Skin and skin appendages protect us from a harmful environment and prevent internal organs from dehydrating. Superficial epidermal wounds usually heal without scarring, however, deep dermal wound healing commonly results in non-functioning scar formation with substantial loss of skin appendages (hair follicles, sebaceous glands, sweat glands, etc.). Wound healing is one of the most complex dynamic biological processes during which a cascade of biomolecules combine with a stem cell influx and matrix synthesis and synergistically contribute to wound healing at all levels. Although many approaches have been investigated to restore complete skin a clinically effective therapy is still unavailable.

We are an independent, privately held biotechnology company based in Baltimore, Maryland. Committed to scientific excellence and patient care we are primarily focused on developing novel regenerative therapies to repair damaged tissue. Our lead platform technology enables perfect skin regeneration during deep dermal wound healing, in preclinical models. We are currently progressing a strong product pipeline towards the clinic which we anticipate will bring much-needed innovation to the wound care market. Our first product candidate, WizGel™-DX1, is designed to regenerate complete skin for the treatment of full thickness cutaneous wounds and pre-existing scars, including third degree burn wounds and surgical wounds. We plan to complete preclinical studies by the end of the third quarter of 2019. If successful WizGel™-DX1 will be initially targeted at the burns market. We also have preclinical product candidate WizGel™-DX2 designed for diabetic wounds and beyond that a number of product candidates designed for a range of cosmetic applications.
